Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi

This restaurant is located in Squirrel Hill, the center of many delicious dining places. Although you might know that the word Sakura is Japanese, this restaurant is actually owned by a Chinese family. Sakura serves both Chinese and Japanese Sushi. Among all of the Chinese dishes served here, the most special one is the mala hot pot. A mala hot pot is unlike other hot pots, it's a "spicy and numbing Chinese hot pot which consists of Sichuanese peppercorn, chili pepper and various spices simmered with oil". If you're up to the challenge, you can try this mala hot pot. You can check out their menu here:Menu. You can place an order online here:Order

"There's no reason to give up on places where it's a challenge to navigate what's for dinner when the proprietors offer a wide menu that attempts to please everyone. If you're patient, you can find authentic and interesting dishes - some of which may even be tough finds among restaurants in larger cities." --Melissa McCart, Post Gazette

I ate at this restaurant for so many times now, and it's still not tired to go to it again. I find this place tastes like home because I can find many authentic Chinese dishes here that other restaurants don't have. Even though I love it here, I've never had their mala hot pot because I can't eat food that is too spicy. So if any of you have a chance to try their mala hot pot one day, please tell me how it tastes like!
